Abigail
A woman of good understanding
1 Samuel 25:3
Abigail was the wife of Nabal, a rich man of the house of Caleb who answered David's young men with insults. David set out to avenge himself. Abigail made haste with loaves, wine, sheep, raisins and figs, fell at David's feet, and turned him back. David blessed God "which sent thee this day to meet me" (1 Samuel 25:32).
Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was churlish and evil in his doings; and he was of the house of Caleb.
