Amos

Amos was not trained as a prophet. He was a herdman from Tekoa in Judah, and God sent him north to preach to Israel in the days of King Uzziah and King Jeroboam. Israel was rich and busy with religion, but they mistreated the poor. Amos told them God wanted real righteousness, not just worship services.

Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:
