Daniel
Purposed in his heart not to defile himself
Daniel 1:8
Because Judah kept turning from God, He let Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon carry away many of its people. Daniel was one of the young men taken far from home. Babylon gave him a new name and new food, but Daniel decided ahead of time that he would stay faithful to God. He served the kings of Babylon with honour and never stopped praying.
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
