Elisabeth

Elisabeth came from the family of Aaron the priest. She was called barren, and for many years she carried that sorrow. In her old age God gave her a son, and she said the Lord had looked on her "to take away my reproach among men" (Luke 1:25). When her neighbours wanted to name the baby after his father, she stood firm on what God had said.

And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.
