Herod the king
Was exceeding wroth when mocked of the wise men
Matthew 2:16
Herod ruled Judaea when Jesus was born. When he heard a new King of the Jews had been born, he was troubled, because he wanted no rival. He pretended he wanted to worship the child, but in his heart he wanted to destroy Him. Herod shows how a proud heart fights against Jesus instead of bowing to Him.
And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
