Jeremiah

Jeremiah was the son of Hilkiah, from a family of priests in Anathoth. God called him while he was still young. For about forty years he warned Judah to turn back to God before Babylon came, and most people would not listen. He was mocked and even thrown into a dungeon, but he kept speaking. He wept over his people: "Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears" (Jeremiah 9:1).

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
