Jeroboam
Made two calves of gold
1 Kings 12:28
Jeroboam the son of Nebat was an Ephrathite and one of Solomon's servants. God gave him ten tribes, and promised to "build thee a sure house" (1 Kings 11:38) if he would walk in His ways. Instead, afraid the people would go back to Jerusalem to worship, he set up golden calves. Ever after the Bible calls him the man "who did sin, and who made Israel to sin" (1 Kings 14:16).
Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
