Judah
Offered himself in Benjamin's place
Genesis 44:33
Leah named him when she said, "Now will I praise the LORD" (Genesis 29:35). Years earlier Judah had proposed selling Joseph to the Ishmeelites. Later he became surety for Benjamin and offered to stay as a bondman in the lad's place. Of his tribe Hebrews says, "our Lord sprang out of Juda" (Hebrews 7:14).
Now therefore, I pray thee, let thy servant abide instead of the lad a bondman to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brethren.
