Mary

Mary was a young virgin in Nazareth, promised in marriage to Joseph. God chose her to be the mother of the Saviour, and she answered with humble faith. Mary knew she needed a Saviour too, for she sang, "my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour" (Luke 1:47). The Bible honours her as a woman who believed God's word.

And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
