Matthew
Left the receipt of custom to follow Jesus
Matthew 9:9
Matthew, also called Levi, was a publican, a tax collector, and the Jews looked down on publicans as sinners. When Jesus said, Follow me, Matthew got up and left his money table behind. The first book of the New Testament bears his name, and in chapters five to seven it records Jesus' great Sermon on the Mount.
And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.
