Saul
The first king of Israel
1 Samuel 10:1
Israel asked Samuel, "now make us a king to judge us like all the nations" (1 Samuel 8:5). God gave them Saul, a tall and goodly young man from the tribe of Benjamin. He started out humble, but over time he did things his own way instead of God's way. Saul shows us that a good start does not matter if the heart will not obey.
Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?
