Seth
Given in place of Abel
Genesis 4:25
Seth was born when Adam was an hundred and thirty years old (Genesis 5:3). Eve named him with a word about the seed: God had "appointed me another seed instead of Abel" (Genesis 4:25). In his days "began men to call upon the name of the LORD" (Genesis 4:26), and Luke traces the Lord Jesus back through Seth to Adam (Luke 3:38).
And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
