The shepherds

The first people to hear that the Saviour was born were not kings or priests. They were plain working men watching sheep in the fields near Bethlehem. God sent His angel to them with the best news the world has ever heard. They went with haste to see, and then told everyone.

And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
